Osinow Dolny 26.10.2006 Poland
The tiny village of Osinow Dolny, situated 2 km from the German border, has a lot of trees, two markets and only one street. This seemingly peaceful place has become world's hair-dressing centre. Along the 200 metre stretch, where 193 people live, 120 are hairdressers. The success story began in 1993, when a border crossing with Germany was opened. That's when the clients from across the border started to arrive en masse in search of hairdressing salons. Polish hairdressers who come here, erect plastic huts and attach to them Friseur Salon signs. Most of them arrived in Osinow from Szczecin. They rented barns and chicken sheds, equipped them with hairdriers and hanged mirrors on walls. These were the humble beginnings of Friseur Maria, Friseur Aneta, Zaneta, Kadus, Eve, Gabi and Ada. Today the village boasts 30 salons. The knowledge of German language is not required of the hairdressers. It's enough to know a few numbers and the question. Was machen. The details can be discussed using the sign language. The German customers are not fussy if the service is cheap
